Community newspapers reflect the specific character of the neighborhoods they serve. Community newspapers are more suburban in their feel, and have very localized content, including news on local high schools, school boards, chamber of commerce meetings, zoning issues and various other news items that are too small to be featured in the major market newspapers in their DMA. Advertising that is carried along with these community newspapers has the implied endorsement of the local community. Large, national advertisers trying to create a hometown feel for their products should consider community newspapers as a viable source for brand-building, as well as for good return on investment.
