The Trend Toward Teen Titles Continues as Many of the Most Popular Women’s Titles Branch out to Speak to their “Younger Sisters” 06/28/2004
Recently, one of the hottest trends in the magazine industry has been the trend toward teen magazine titles…and many of these titles are spin-offs. Many of the nation’s most popular women’s magazine titles have taken the plunge and created new versions of their titles specifically for the teen and “tween” market. In fact, titles such as Elle, Cosmopolitan, People and Vogue are already on their way to teeny-bop success with their spin-offs: ElleGirl, CosmoGirl, Teen People and Teen Vogue. These spin-offs are just some of the teen titles now on the market, since magazines such as J-14, M, Twist and Pop Star have targeted teens without a “big sister” publication to pave the way. There are a number of advertising options available to marketers who are looking to tap into the teen market, and those who haven’t thought about targeting teens specifically should stand up and take notice of this group and the media that’s out there to reach it.
